Gun Metal Linen detail
Cool toned dark gray linen with a subtle silvery metallic finish on the right side. Mid weight linen with a supple hand and lovely drape. For a jacket, shirt, skirt, pant or dress. The color works with our Galvanized Gray Hanky, Monterey Gray and San Francisco Stripe linens. The metallic finish is unchanged with hand or gentle machine washing.

Here is how I pre-treat and test linen to see how it will respond to laundering.

Cut a sample strip about 4" wide and the width of the fabric ... cut this too narrow and the sample can roll up or fray and you won't get an accurate result. Serge the edges if you want. Then, cut the sample piece in half so you have two rectangles, both the same size. Machine wash. After washing (with a bit of detergent), I put one sample strip in the dryer and hung the other to air dry. Some linens get a delicious allover light wrinkle in washing, the only way to determine this is to test. Linen LOVES water, being wet, and, yes, loves to be pressed, so you can go that route too.

Once I sew a linen garment, it NEVER goes in the dryer again. I launder on gentle, make sure it is sopping wet, hang up and tug/smooth the seams and edges and air dry. Often no other pressing is needed.
