Vogue 8399
Jacket and vest with outside darts forming shoulder flanges, tucks in the collar and back godet that skims the figure, narrowing the waist and hip while it broadens the shoulder. Vest is unlined and the jacket is partially lined. Simple and interesting wrapped facing repeats the long triangle of the godet and darts. Clever and practical cuff and closing. I used vintage kimono fabric for the vest---took the kimono apart and used the fabric to cut the vest. The vest godet is a double layer of silk organza with tuck stitching. The jacket was cut from a piece of flawed fabric found in a discount fabric store in Philadelphia. Both close with a loop and button. I also made the vest in a felted wool jersey and have made the jacket in a soft cotton, dressed way down and wear it like a shirt in spring and summer. If you are tall, add length to the hem.
