Vogue 8430
Without a doubt, the easiest and fastest pattern I've done. This is a great little jacket in felted wool as shown. For the jackets on the pattern envelope, I started with wool jersey which was tossed in the washer and drier. After a few experiments I discovered that it is a good idea to machine baste the fabric together at the edges.

You could use any fabric that does not ravel. The cashmere in my Fabric Collection would be fabulous.

Renditions of Vogue 8430 by Katherine and Marcy

My sister Katherine and I collaborated on this group of garments using 8430. One cut, the other stitched, then we'd trade off. The orange vest is a wool knit I found at Uncommon Threads in Taos. It was not felted, but used straight from the bold. Lucky I had the silk dupioni in my stash for the detailing.

The black vest and jacket at bottom right are felted (tossed in washer and drier) wool jersey. Katherine cut these and we used the wobbly raw edge at the front edges.

The charcoal grey jacket at top right is a double knit. The nature of the fabric did not change much. Katherine used a varigated rayon thread to stitch around the edges.

All pieces have been sold If you are interested in ordering something similar, give Katherine a call at: 612-247-6285.
