Vintage buttons from Paris, many still on the original card. Some are a vintage plastic from the same era as Bakelite, others are glass or shell. From companies that supplied buttons to couture houses and to the once flourishing fabric and notion departments of the grand department stores. To this day, you can visit the impressive 'mercerie' (notions department) at the Bon Marche, an elegant department store on the Left Bank, and there are 'merceries' scattered throughout Paris.
