Where Did You Get That T-Shirt?
CD-Rom by Marcy Tilton & David Coffin Marcy has been making t-shirts, writing about t-shirts and teaching workshops on fit, design and construction for nearly 30 years. "I love making t-shirts, and am energized by figuring out better/easier and more fun ways to make them. This is a favorite blank canvas, I always have at least one or two in the works, and I wear a t-shirt nearly every day. Even experienced sew-ists tell me they have a fear of working with knits, and this CD-Rom is the result of many years experimentation and refining simple ways to head off trouble when making a t-shirt."
This information packed CD-Rom is like having Marcy with you in your own sewing studio, a private tutorial that will get you inspired to make your own distinctive t-shirts without fear of failure. There video segments, (nearly 1 1/2 hours in 5 - 20 minute setments) on fit, construction and design details and a gallery with a close up look at Marcy's hand made t-shirts and others from her international collection. Also included is an extensive list of fabric and other resources complete with with hotlinks, a slide show and informative handouts you can print out.
Where Did You Get That T-shirt, is done in collaboration with David Coffin...he did all the photography, videos, techno-wizardry, formatting and organizing. The CD-Rom format is new, you, will pop it into your computer, and it really is better than a book—more photos, really cool audio and video, and very visually appealing. It covers everything I know/have learned over 30+ years of making, designing and wearing t-shirts. For those of you who have listened to my lecture-demos, taken one of my workshops (or wanted to), it is like being right next to me in the studio, explaining the process including tips for heading off trouble. The CD puts it all into an easy-to use and understand package that you can watch and rewatch as often as you like.
There are video demos on fit and pattern adjusting, construction tips on stabilizing edges and hems, unusual neck edges and bindings and many design ideas so you can invent your own distinctive t-shirts....over an hour in all, each segment runs about 10 minutes. Handouts on each topic can be printed out, along with sources for finding all the tools, supplies and books, each with a clickable link to the relevant website.
